Toy Sourcing: Safe, Certified & Built to EU Standards

Toy Sourcing: Safe, Certified & Built to EU Standards

Sourcing

From concept to compliant toy

Toy sourcing from China requires more diligence than most product categories. EU regulations — EN71, REACH, the Toy Safety Directive, and now GPSR — set strict requirements on materials, construction, labelling, and documentation. A product that fails testing cannot legally be sold.

M-Asia integrates compliance into every stage of the sourcing process. We select factories that are experienced with European toy standards, verify material certificates before production begins, and coordinate third-party lab testing before shipment. Safety is not an afterthought — it is designed into the product from the first sample.

Our teams manage the full cycle: factory selection, sample development with safety-critical design input, production monitoring, AQL-based inspections, and documentation that satisfies customs and retail buyer requirements.

  • EU compliance (EN71, REACH, CE) built in from design phase
  • Factory selection based on toy manufacturing experience and certifications
  • Full documentation for customs clearance and retail requirements

Safety and compliance challenges we solve

Challenges in Toy Sourcing

Toy regulations are among the strictest in consumer products. Getting them wrong means unsellable stock, recalls, or legal liability. We prevent this by selecting experienced factories, testing early, and documenting everything.

We start by selecting factories with a track record of producing EN71-compliant toys. Material certificates are verified before production begins. During development, we review the product design for compliance risks (small parts, sharp edges, chemical content). Pre-shipment samples are sent to accredited EU laboratories for formal EN71 testing. Products that fail are corrected before the batch ships.

The General Product Safety Regulation (GPSR) came into effect in December 2024 and strengthens requirements for product traceability, labelling, and documentation for all consumer products sold in the EU — including toys. M-Asia ensures that your product packaging, labels, and import documentation meet GPSR requirements, including the mandatory EU responsible person details.

We review age grading based on the toy’s intended use, features, and small-parts risk assessment. Warning labels are designed according to the Toy Safety Directive and included on packaging and product. We verify correct placement and content during pre-shipment inspection.

Built for your market

We map the target markets and translate rules into clear requirements for the factory. Age grading, warnings, and label copy are fixed before samples are made. We align test plans with product features to avoid late surprises. You get a checklist that shows what is required at each stage.
